Crest
The Logos Prep crest is a shield that represents our shield of faith (Ephesians
6:16). Within the shield is placed the open Bible, the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). The crossed swords signify the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) and He who has the sharp double-edged sword, Christ. (Revelation 2:12) Finally, a lion graces the top corner and represents Christ our King, the lion of Judah (Revelation 5:5).
Logos is Greek for word. In the Old Testament, Logos translates into the word dabar which in Hebrew was a word, thing or event which was dynamic and filled with a power that was transmitted to those who received it. The term was often used to designate God’s communication to His people. In the New Testament, Logos often refers to the teachings of Jesus. In the gospel of John, Jesus is The Word, Logos. (John 1:1, 14)
Statement of Faith
As a Christian based school, staff and board members of Logos Preparatory
Academy espouse and firmly believe:
The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God.
Non-denominational Policy
Logos Preparatory Academy's Statement of Faith is fundamental to the basic Christian tenets and contains the essential Christian doctrines to which we unreservedly adhere. We maintain a non-denominational position and in fairness to each family that participates, we will respect and encourage Christian growth within their families and local churches. At the same time, we desire to remain united in salvation and love of Christ, avoiding differences and disputes that may come from denominational distinctive. In Christian essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, charity and grace.
Non-discriminatory Policy
Logos Preparatory Academy admits students of any gender, race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Our History
Logos Preparatory was created by four families living in Southwest Houston. Two families were recently transferred from the Dallas area where their children attended Grace Preparatory Academy, the initial University Model School. The third family had home-schooled their children for a number of years and had organized Academically Reinforced Classes (ARC) that served the local home-school community. The fourth family committed to Christian education joined the group at its inception. Classes started August 2006 with an initial offering of 3rd - 10th
grades. Enrollment for that first year was a surprising 232 students.
